Navarathri Festival

Navarthri is a festival for 3 goddesses. Goddess Durga (goddess of valour), Goddess Lukshmi (goddess of wealth), and Goddess Saraswathi (goddess of education) are allocated 3 days each consecutively in celebration. On the culmination of this festival, children will be initiated in to academics and arts. The People believe that valour and wealth are all entwined with Education (academic and arts). Tamil Culture has 64 forms of art. Jaffna people hold academics and art in high regard and equally facilitate the education of their sons and daughters. During this period Kollu or a Display of Statues, is built at homes, and food offerings are made each evening to the respective goddess of the day.
